Magnetic Door Curtains

Magnetic door curtains (also called magnetic screen doors) are practical, removable barriers that use magnetic strips to seal doorways, keeping insects out while allowing easy entry/exit for humans and pets. Unlike traditional screen doors (which require permanent installation with hinges and latches) or plastic door curtains (which stick together and block movement), magnetic door curtains open automatically when pushed and close instantly via magnetic attractionideal for patios, garages, kitchens, or RVs.

The design consists of two overlapping mesh panels (usually fiberglass or polyester mesh, resistant to tearing and UV damage) with strong magnetic strips (ferrite or neodymium) sewn into the overlapping edges. When someone walks through the curtain, the panels separate; after passing, the magnets pull the panels back together, creating a tight seal that blocks mosquitoes, flies, and other insects. Most models include a weighted bottom hem (to prevent wind from blowing the panels open) and adhesive hooks or Velcro strips for installationno drilling required, and the curtain can be removed in minutes (e.g., for winter storage).

Sizes range from standard door widths (75-90 cm) to extra-wide (120+ cm) for patio doors, with mesh densities (18x16 to 20x20 holes per inch) that balance insect protection and airflow (the mesh allows fresh air to circulate while keeping even small insects out). A homeowner with a patio door reported that a magnetic door curtain eliminated the need for chemical insect repellents during summer, while pets could enter/exit freely without waiting for someone to open the door. In RVs, magnetic door curtains provide ventilation without letting bugs inside, even when the vehicle is parked in wooded areas. For a cost-effective, convenient way to enjoy fresh air while keeping insects out, magnetic door curtains offer a practical alternative to traditional screen doors.
